Re: Who provides the best cell phone service at The Red?

Yeah I have had AT&T for the past year and a half and have never been able to make a call or send a text message from Miguel's or most places in the gorge. I think I'll be going with Verizon unless I hear about some other provider that is good in the area in the next day or so. Thanks for the in...

Who provides the best cell phone service at The Red?

I'm going to be spending a lot of time at The Red this year and also need to get a new cell phone plan. I've had AT&T and I never have service at Miguel's or most crags, so I don't want to stay with them since I don't have to. Does anyone have any recommendations for a service provider that prov...

Re: Need a new project

Man, at first I was interested in recommending some routes, but these criteria are so specific, it makes it difficult to recommend anything. Sure these criteria still leave you with plenty of options, but there are so many great routes that are eliminated by them, and that's a shame because there is...

Re: Climbing/bouldering at Land of Arches campgroiund?

I stayed at that campground once last year and we checked out the climbing one day. Hike past that house in the back of the campground, down the hill and to the left. Follow a trail into the woods and take another left and you come upon a little cliffline. This is where the bouldering is located, an...

Jobs for a Climber in the Gorge...

Does anyone have any good ideas of ways to make money while spending a few months at The Red? I have plans to spend the Fall in the gorge, and while the climbing bum lifestyle is a modest one, I will be needing some income. Working at Miguel's is an obvious avenue to consider, but does anyone know o...

Re: Replacing Steel Biners

Which bolt are you talking about, and what do you consider the crux on Cell Block 6? I've been on that route a few time in the last couple months and noticed the 'biner on the second bolt is getting a little sharp / worn (probably not sharp enough to be dangerous yet), and there is also that 'biner ...

Climbing partner for September 2011-?

I will be making The Red my home for an indefinite amount of time in September this year (2011) and, unfortunately, do not have any friends in Chicago (my current hometown) who are able to make the same commitment. I will be content to find climbing partners when I can, climbing with them for a few ...

Re: Grigri 2 vs. Trango Cinch

I have been using the original Grigri since I began climbing and am very comfortable using it. I am considering getting a Grigri 2 for someone as a gift, but I want to know one thing from those of you have used it: when belaying the leader (particularly with gloves on) do you find it difficult to ho...

Re: Iniquity vs. Cell Block Six

The start of Iniquity does affect the grade. The route is a nice 12a without it. In fact, some people do just skip the boulder problem by starting on Cell Block and walking over to Iniquity via a ledge. Not the most direct way, but definitely the path of least resistance. The question shouldn't be d...

Re: Iniquity vs. Cell Block Six

I have only been on Iniquity a hand full of times, and Cell Block Six not at all yet. However, if Cell Block Six is anything like this dude (http://vimeo.com/11560092) makes it look, it' is WAY easier than Iniquity, consider the hard start. Even if there is a sit-down rest before the red-point crux...
