Climbing/bouldering at Land of Arches campgroiund?

Are there established climbs there ? What is the bouldering like? What is the quality of either? How far is all this from where you camp?

Thanks!

I was down last week, and from what I took talking to the manager of LOA is that a group of climbers from around lville will be developing the area. Rock quality didn't look to bad just needed some TLC. The walk is about five minutes behind the camping area and the ridge line goes for a good hundred or two feet once you get to the area.

I stayed at that campground once last year and we checked out the climbing one day. Hike past that house in the back of the campground, down the hill and to the left. Follow a trail into the woods and take another left and you come upon a little cliffline. This is where the bouldering is located, and I thought it was pretty fun, but not the sort of thing that is going to put The Red on the map for bouldering. We didn't have any crashpads, were a little drunk, and I didn't even have climbing shoes, so I can't say what it would be like to really climb there, but it seemed like there was room for plenty of problems on the short cliff. That short cliff gets much taller on the right side, however, and there is potential for some VERY steep lines to be bolted there. I don't know how many walls there are like this on the campground, but if the rock quality is good on the big wall, there could be some cool, hard lines there. I could see this turning into another small crag with some hard routes and not much in the way of moderates.

as long as we're on the LOA topic:

Any plans to make a dog-friendly section of the campground? that place was starting to feel like home before the dog ban.

Dogs will scare away the LOA pet deer.

rumor has it, that the deers are being run off recently due to the fact that the male is no longer a green horn. once again this is rumor and i have no idea if there is any truth at all in this.
