thank you. I've heard that frequently, only not sarcastically. Unfortunately message board discussions don't bring out the best in many of us.

Why so defensive, "Thrax?" How is what I said in this thread out of line? I'm asking honestly, not maliciously.

HA! You are correct. I apologize. Sincerely. Your sarcasm preceeding it brought out the 'best' in me, but I was out of line.

Thrax - that was well put. Most of the people jumping up and down and demanding answers are probably poor supporters. The access fund is helpful, but with for limited resources. Where the red cross web so i can place 3 complaints and demand answers by 3 pm???

yo thrax, not sure what you are trying to prove with your request but here is my answer:

I've been a member of the rrgcc since 1998, I am the local rep for Columbus Ohio(which includes constantly badgering my friends to get involved with the rrgcc), I helped raise $1800.00 for the MP including $100.00 of my own money, helped with a couple of 'fests'and a couple of crag rehab projects..

Now can I see YOUR rrgcc resume?

This is a very interesting, and I think productive, thread. So much I agree with here. It's so unfortunate that organizations have to have "problems", but I guess that is because they are run by humans who make mistakes. Yes, there is a TON of work still to be done, and Yes, more people to help would definately lighten the load and help things get done more quickly.

I also think it's important to remind ourselves that where legal matters are concerned, most of the time the parties involved are not permitted (legally) to say much about what is going on. If there seems to be confusion, contradictions or a lack of information about the MP, maybe it's because certain things cannot legally be told to the public at this time. I went through a law suit a few years back and remember the horrors of it like it was yesterday. I can't imaging what must be going on with this one, but I do know the rrgcc has my support simply because I know they're working to make things better for us. I'll get answers when they're available.

Since many of us who have been around a while know that certain events are coming up, why not just ask what we could do to help? I'll bet it would be greatly appreciated, and a load off those who are so tied up with other things right now. All the activities of the rrgcc are important, but a person can only do so much.

Communication seems to be the biggest topic mentioned... maybe we could also help out (at least until the web-sites are done and there are more people volunteering) by passing along any info we currently have to other climbers who may not have access to the internet. We all love to talk, that's why we have this site, so while were telling about our latest conquest, let's also talk about the events coming up, or organize our own trail days (those who have done these know what to do).

I like the honesty and thought going into this thread. THIS is a climbing community. This is ours, guys, no matter who carries what title, we ALL climb and want to keep climbing. Sometimes I just have to remind myself of the common, end goal. hope my thoughts help or interest you.

all climbers should give back in some way. there are many ways to help. like picking up other peoples trash at the cliffs and educating new climbers about access issues. i pay my dues but the rrgcc isn't all that. i've been put off by crappy attitudes of high ranking members at the cliffs. a couple of my buds have offered volunteer services and the leadership of the rrgcc never followed through with them like they said they would. when they claim they don't have enough help then why don't they take it when its offered? the rrgcc should be interested in why some climbers are turned off by them. some of the hardcore regular climbers who live at miguel's despise the rrgcc.
