My beau and I are looking to take a last minute road trip next week from the DC area. We've always wanted to visit the Red, but have never had enough days off in a row to get down there, enjoy a few days of climbing and then get back in time for our boring desk jobs.
We're firstly concerned about the weather. Have any locals seen a weather forcast for say... March 18-22nd? It's a long ways to drive to get caught in a late season snow storm.

Secondly, for reasons I won't get into, I'm compelled to bring my dog along on this trip. Are there any dog-friendly approaches and places to stay down there? He's small, so we can scramble with him ok, but am not ready to try rap'ing with him. Also, we don't mind camping with him, but some campgrounds frown on dogs.
Thanks for any info, and here's to lovely weather.
Cheers,
Jen
