Some young guns at the gym swear by rubbing alcohol (isopropyl alcohol) to clean the oil from their fingers before applying chalk....anyone try this, or have any other tricks for getting rid of pigsteak grease or oil off the tips?
lol..there ..how is that....sorry, tis one of those days at work where hell breaks loose and ya want to be elsewhere....so any insights for me on this dilemma...we were working this crimpy vertical route last weekend, and since the conditions were perfect, all was good..but it just reminded me of the kids using rubbing alcohol when the gym is one sweaty sack...
I know a guy who carries a pumice stone with him to the crag to keep the fingers good for slopes and crimps. and he climbs V8 so...it must work for him.
otherwise......Chalk! and lots of it. (I'm a chalk pimpette...no question!)

I carry a little bottle of that 'no water' hand cleanser, which is essentially gelled alcohol. It's great for cleaning hands without using up drinking water, or if you run out of Sterno! (I have not actually tried the latter...)
