Rubbing alcohol...

Post by pigsteak »

Some young guns at the gym swear by rubbing alcohol (isopropyl alcohol) to clean the oil from their fingers before applying chalk....anyone try this, or have any other tricks for getting rid of pigsteak grease or oil off the tips?

lol..there ..how is that....sorry, tis one of those days at work where hell breaks loose and ya want to be elsewhere....so any insights for me on this dilemma...we were working this crimpy vertical route last weekend, and since the conditions were perfect, all was good..but it just reminded me of the kids using rubbing alcohol when the gym is one sweaty sack...

Rubbing alcohol will remove grease from any surface. Fingers as well, I'm sure. Thank you, Martha Stupid!

I know a guy who carries a pumice stone with him to the crag to keep the fingers good for slopes and crimps. and he climbs V8 so...it must work for him.

otherwise......Chalk! and lots of it. (I'm a chalk pimpette...no question!)

My only thought....putting rudding alcohol on you skin in cold temps can cause frost bit!

Then my other thought was...figures those guy So Ill punks need all the can get to send V3!

I carry a little bottle of that 'no water' hand cleanser, which is essentially gelled alcohol. It's great for cleaning hands without using up drinking water, or if you run out of Sterno! (I have not actually tried the latter...)
