Heres the picture. Sorry if this is anyone on here, if it is then you should stop being a creep. I had no idea my son was even taking pictures till we got home and discovered about 200 pictures of the back of my head. This was on July 7th at 4 PM.

Sounds like your friend had a dry bite or stepped on a nonvenomous snake. As previously mentioned, allergies have nothing to do with the type of reaction you will have, if you are bit and were injected with venom then you need to be taken to the hospital ASAP. Rock Warriors Way or the Espresso Lessons are both good books to read to help with the fear. I think fear of falling has a lot to do with your approach to climbing.
