Re: Grigri 2 vs. Trango Cinch

IMHO, the cinch has a very poorly designed brake release system. Re: Lead belay question

Since you wouldn't be changing the actual mass of the belayer, I think it would have little effect on the initial catch. it might extend the fall by a foot or two toward the end of the event after most of the force was dissipated, but would do relatively little to the peak force.

So did you actually see the snake? From what I know, timber rattlesnakes don't make their homes in rock cliffs. Bats can make a buzzing sound when they pissed which might be mistaken as a rattle. Just curious... Good call. I finally looked at the pictures i took(couldn't make em out on the viewfind...

Yeah, it sounded a little weird because of the acoustics of the crack, but i'm pretty sure it was a rattler. When i looked in there he even smiled at me! All i could really see was what appeared to be 2 pair of fangs spaced about 1/2 inch apart. i don't know much about rattlers, but i'm guessing tha...

Angry bat (not really a rattlesnake) on bedtime for bonzo

Ok, so it was really a bat... :? Still to be avoided, but not nearly as dangerous as i first thought. Sorry. I tell ya, it sounded a lot like a rattler with the echoes coming out of the hole. When i looked in and all i saw was fangs, i assumed the worst. I didn't want to find out for sure the...

I am a cheepwad and where you can spend 1200 dollars you can almost always spend 20. Thick pants and some webbing would be my solution. This could easily be fastened to his ankles and then to his waist or harness to force the knees to bend. If the webbing goes from his ankles to either side it woul...
