I see no problem with one REI member letting another member use a coupon which is not being used and REI budgets for.

Actually, all you have to do is be on their mailing list. They have a "pay" membership as well, but to get the 20% off, you just have to be on the list. I got one which I will hopefully be able to use.

Actually, on the items my wife is looking at they are the exact same price on Mgear, Backcountry, and REI
