Fewer Climbers This Fall?

Not that I'm complaining, but has anyone else thought there are fewer climbers in the Gorge this fall? The few times I've been out in August and September it hasn't felt overcrowded and I've been to popular crags not some backwoods shit. I have no stats to back me up, maybe I've just been lucky. Like today we were at Pebble and there was hardly anyone there, never climbing right next to anther group, but there were quite a few cars parked at the split I'm guessing they were all at Pistol. So have I been lucky or are there fewer climbers out there this season.

Well, I was up at the Arena yesterday and it was a LOT busier than I had ever seen it. I bet that in the area from Drive-By back there was 30 cars.

So, I'm guessing you've been sort of lucky, not that that is a bad thing.

Yeah, the Southern Region has REALLY attracted a lot of people here lately.

There were alot of people at Military on sat-although everybody was concentrated on the front side...
Ditto on Oil crack yesterday, except I think most people were at the older section there, which is unusual.

You mean on the 12 wall at OC? Those routes are pretty great really. I am surprised more people hadn't climbed them before now.

Yep. They're good, but I think tend to get over looked for some reason.

I've noticed within the past few weeks that whenever there's a bunch of people climbing they're always kinda grouped together. People never seem to spread out and go to different crags.

Its that pack instinct. People bitch about the crowds(not you Sarah) then they pack together with 30 of their closest friends while at a wall and forget about the two miles of climbs around them. It's an instinct. Its human. :)

Shhh. Military was that way for awhile and not so much so now. Don't give away your secrets.
