Ok, the Good Lord knows that I love to Spray as much as the next person. However, while I was trolling through the online guidebook today, I happened to notice that some climbers -whom I know for a fact have not sent particular routes - have ticked their names right there next to the names of those of us who put in the time and ACTUALLY SENT THOSE ROUTES. What the fuck is this about? Maybe I am looking at this incorrectly, but I do believe that the quote says:
"I, Spray Lord, do solemnly swear, that I have climbed this route cleanly (on lead)."
That's right, CLEANLY. No falls. No hangs. Just clean
Am I mistaken? Need a climber only slap the anchors in order to declare a climb ticked? Would someone please lend a little clarity to this issue?
Thank you,
SL
Ticking routes that you haven't sent(F*&KERS)!?

It reminds me of the kid in the movie "The Unforgiven" going on and on about what a killer he was until he finally killed a man. The only one these "killers" hurt are themselves until they are on a multipitch somewhere and someone else's life is on the line becasuse they believed the"killer" really had led 5.9 Chimneys on trad multipitch.(an example)
This is suppose to be fun. I am a gumby , but I never get ridculed by quality people if I flail. Honor is more important than false spray.

I try to be a good man but all that comes
of trying is I feel more guilty.

One of the many reasons that I do not post a tick list. First, I don't care. Second, I refuse to onsight. Third, there are so many differing opinions on what constitutes a send or clean or onsight or beta flash that I'll never know what the hell I have and haven't done. The good news, I always know when I'm enjoying myself

Nothing is more dangerous than an arrogant and cocky leader who 'thinks' he/she can lead 5.10 or whatever when they can't. that puts the belayer/second/anyone involved in potential danger. I don't want to second someone who 'says' they can set a natual anchor on the top of a 5.10 crack when they can't.
Just climb for fun, tick your routes, but please be honest, cause it isn't worth the risk, and if you aren't sure, then don't climb with that person until you are!

Not from your site. Sorry if I gave that impression! Just from people talking. You hear smack talk all the time at the cliff and people are like, "they didn't do a true onsight, that was a beta flash." I don't care about that crapola at all. Also, I'm not trying to bash other people putting up a tick list. I think a lot of people get good stuff out of it. Just not me. Probably b/c I'm a gumby climber and a head case on lead. I'm getting better though
