Sucking at Torrent Falls- Bare Metal Teen

Post by climb2core »

I spent 3 or so days climbing at Torrent the last week end. I was consoling myself on my non-send of Bare Metal Teen by convincing myself that the route was really 12b/c. Then a guy I believe named Aaron (long hair, over 40) gets on Steel Worker and proceeds to do 4 laps on it (non-consecutive). Then he jumps on BMT and proceeds to do 3 laps on that. He also mentioned he had been off for a couple of months and was just getting back into shape. Damn, I suck. Motivating though... time to train harder to stop sucking so bad.

On a side note, I got on Us and Them... if BMT is 12a, then that felt like 11- What would you rate Bare Metal Teen? If not 12a, why not rate it accurately?

12a.

Big Money is a bit harder to send. Steelworker is a LOT harder.

It's a near even split between 12a(16) and 12b(14) votes. Being within a letter grade is pretty good when you're dealing with something so subjective.

I think I was there the day that Darrell (i believe that is the guy's name) was "getting back into shape." It was funny, he kept humbly saying that muscle memory was doing most of the work. I guess I need to find some muscle memory somewhere . . . hmm, maybe he's got some extra. It's interesting when you watch someone climb steelworker in sub 3 minutes it seemed like. that thing is tuffffffff

every grade has a range, and BMT is at the top of the 12a range. Us and them is at the bottom of that range. I really don't thing BMT is 12b, nor the hardest 12a in the red.

about the same, maybe a bit more sustained. bare metal has easier clips but a bit harder moves.
