What happens when a healing injury prohibits you from free climbing, and it's a Labor day weekend (ie 5000 people in a 450 person town?) You grab the aiders go backcountryish and nab the first one day ascent!

They were probably thinking they'd have to place pins, which is naughty enough in Zion! Which route is that Gaar? Any hope of freeing it someday?

Did you see the bolt at the shot of one of their anchors? It was lighter than the drill...

GAAR... Nice job man! Just goes to show that there is always adventure to be found.

It is Gatekeeper crack behind the watchman.

We placed 4 pins in 750 feet, the FA placed 6

It was more of a recon to see if it would go free one day. All but 2 sections of about 20ft each will go free. one at the top of P4 and p7

Why had a Grade IV climb not been done in a day? Last time I checked grade VI means a long day, but no bivy... Did you do the second ascent?

Cool looking climb! Never leave the ground with out a hammer. The hammer is not the problem, its the solution. Pound it to the eye!!!
