Dip Wall

It finds you - you do not find it...

Buddy and I spent three hours yesterday bushwacking around trying to find it...the darn jeep trail is just a little farther past the concrete bridge than is noted in the guide book.

couple of nubes...

anyone else get owned by the Dip Wall aproach?

I have come full circle. I got lost going to dip wall a couple weeks ago. Tried to cross the creek WAY to early. And it was the wrong creek.

PS, I also fell on green eggs. Yep. Full. Circle.

If the concrete bridge you are speaking of is the damn over Indian Creek over which you can drive and next to which there is a huge flat camping spot, then the approach trail is actually before, not after, the bridge. There are a couple of pylons marking the start and is pretty easy to follow from there. Following that trail puts you at Dip wall a few hundred feet to the left of Green Eggs and Ham. Now Wall of Denial, that's an approach that has owned me repeatedly.

Almost no one finds Dip Wall the first time. Once you go, it's fairly easy to get back.

If you miss the initial switchback you can just keep going and explore around to find some cool cracks. There is a great 5.6- dihedral back there, better than the stuf at Dip Wall.

Also, there are a few splitter finger-ish cracks and one epic looking chimney system in a dihedral. Jesse?

So getting lost isn't always a bad thing if you just go with it.

hamsco, While it is sometimes kinda tough to walk past routes that you flashed for a warmup, knowing that even hangdogging your way to the chains on TR is a long shot, it really hasn't been all that bad. When I was climbing harder, my personal life pretty much sucked, and now I wouldn't trade my life for all the 5.15 sends in the world. And, I have found that there is life outside of climbing and I have been to way more family events, games, etc. then I ever went to before. But, that said, I hope to be back into the 12's again sometime this winter, since we should be able to get outside to climb 3-4 days a week for the next half year or so, along with some roadtripping fun!

Oh, and as a hint to people looking for dip - the trail is very well defined, and pretty easy to follow, as long as you stay on it!

I have gotten lost trying to find Hen's nest, the back way in to Jazz rock, and the back way to Jewel. The crag is always right where the giude says it is. go figure
Oh I also had a mini epic getting out of Mariba by dark. What doesn't kill you makes your crag finding skills better.

Thats nothing...you guys ever atempted to find backside wall? YEAH LOST is the key word there. Ohhh and cussing too.

Funny Dip wall wasn't too hard to find for us. However the trail was pretty overgrown though.
