Hey guys I have been climbing at Climb time for 3 months now and want to go to the gorge to climb. I only have a harness and am getting a rope here soon. Does anyone know what kind of rope is the best. I dont mind paying extra for a better quality rope.

Thanks for the info. Just one more question. Would I want a low impact or high impact force. I would assume high impact but I just want to make sure.

lower is better nut across the board just about any DYNAMI/Kernmantle rope will work. make sure its not a static line or you'll learn ABOUt high impact/

also, shoes might be a good investment, before the rope. pants as well.

Ill get the pants but I already have valero shoes and a black diamond harness. Ill be sure to stay away from static ropes.

i'd say get a 10.2 or 10.5 mm. if you're new, you'll probably be top roping and hanging alot and a bigger rope will hold up better (generally)

Sterling ropes are awesome...but I may but a Mammut Supersafe for my next go around. I agree wit pawikes in that you should by a thicker cord when starting out....It will pay in the end...and also for your piece of mind.

Now on the same side, if you go and lead up rope draggin pitches sometimes its nice to have a thicker cord too.

Go with Sterling you cant go wrong. If you are worried about price, Bluewater always has deals, I climb on one now... a 10. 2 I think) and while they are a softer rope they give a nice catch and hold up (so far) quite well to abuse.
