Wes wrote:Fuck you bunch of whiny assed bitches. Tick marks are not "trash" you just want to feel like you are cooler and more new age touchy feely at-one-with-the-rocks and trees bullshit. It isn't that big of a deal, just another thing for people to bitch about to make themselves feel better. I tick the shit out of routes I am working, never brush them off, and really don't give a fuck what you think about it. So, in short, fuck off, and if they bother you brush them off, or you could just get over yourselves and go climb.
Shame on you Wes. You must be a horrible, selfish person that does nothing for the climbing community :D .

My point got lost somewhere. Small tick marks are not a big deal, just more chalk on an already over chalked route at an over chalked cliff. Instead of bitching and pushing ethics on other people, you can brush the tick marks off a route if you don't like them. As I have said all along, IT REALLY IS THAT EASY.

But hey, I have learned a whole lot, people who use tick marks and sometimes forget to brush them off are disrespectful, selfish, littering, not able to think for themselves, blind, in over their head, jackass parasite. Shit, imagine if I did something controversial.

Also, as always, I invite you to climb in a better style if you wish. If you think tick marks take away from your experience, brush them all off and do the route the real way. If you don't like the bolts skip them. If you don't like me having the first bolt clipped, show me how to do it from the ground up. If you don't like dogs at the cliff, don't bring your dog to the cliff. Every ones enjoyment of the sport comes from different things. Instead of bitching and whining, climb and have fun.

Tick marks are great. There like GPS for rock climbing. But I can definitly understand some views. Seen routes that have every little edge or divet ticked. Thats aggravating.... Its like playing Wheres Waldo.

so really, if all the holds are ticked, then the climb is just as pure as it would be if there was no chalk at all. I guess I should buy some more chalk

Well, Pru, sometimes you gotta put down your tiger claws and purr a bit. Otherwise, we're going to stick you back in your cage.

So having different colored sticks of chalk for ticking is bad?
