I believe the votes were for state, not federal, constitutions, but I still think most of them will end up in court before long.

The votes were all for state constitutional amendments. Amending the federal constitution is a complicated process. If portions of state constitutions are deemed violative of the federal constitution in the federal courts, then they are unconstitutional and unenforcable. The federal constitution trumps all state constitutions, laws, regulations, etc.marathonmedic wrote:I believe the votes were for state, not federal, constitutions, but I still think most of them will end up in court before long.
I'm not bitching. I'm engaging in a pleasant conversation.ynot wrote:Geeze. The election is over. I thought you 2 would stop bitching.
Pretty much. Assuming that is, that the courts will deem them unconstitutional.Alan Evil wrote:So in other words these State Constitutional amendments were all a complete and utter waste of time, money, and will waste even more time and money over the next few years?
My rather sarcastic remark was about church money. It was churches that funded every last one of those constitutional amendment drives, mostly via the Christian Coalition. Now it'll be us taxpayers that pay for the legal circus that will shortly ensue... and we'll pay for both sides of it! Oh well.ynot wrote:Wake up,smell the coffee. Goverment is a waste of our money.
