My family and I, pictured below, resent this talk of gumbies and fish. And it's not this website that is stupid, it's all the people posting on it. DUH!

You know, I think there was a haircut along time ago(50s/60s) called a DA,which I think means "duck's ass". Could someone please confirm/affirm my reality?...please....thorw me bone....uhh.

Is it the hair cut Jim Carey had in the Ace Ventura movies a DA?

The duck-tail. It is the hair cut Jim Carey Had. I only know this b/c my hair does a natural duck's butt when it's cut short. I hate it. That's why my hair does not get cut shorter than a bob...EVER.

So how does one get away from the 'Gumby' title? Is it having a tick list? is it being seen climbing by others??

oh..I had a bus driver in school who had a duck butt...and he greased it with some kind of shiny hair lube. Very stylin'.

Well, I think one has to avoid getting the title in the first place by always doing the intelligent thing such as: not TR'ing through the anchors, not getting on climbs 2 number grades above your ability just to impress someone, always belaying correctly (big one), knowing the difference between a clean send and a hang dog :), NOT bringing your whole damn climbing club and having all 50 of them camp out right under the same climb all day leaving nothing but a patch of desert where a forest used to be, etc, etc, etc.

DISCLAIMER: This is not directed to anyone specifically, but are things I have observed in the past which may constitue "gumby-ism"

So.....everyone new to this forum automatically gets the title anyways right??

regardless of experience etc.
