It's tough to make time or even care about cardio when I can just climb instead.
But I think a little would help if I could be disciplined enough to make a habit of it.

To me, once you have *enough* cardio to run at an OK pace for 45 minutes or so, you are set for climbing. Training past that will not really help your climbing a much.
I just got a road bike a few weeks ago, and biking is way more fun the running. Esp. around Lexington.

You assume I like to run, I don't like to run. I loathe running, but it's the easiest form of cardio I can think of. I do admire people that are passionate about it. Mostly because it is impressive to have the ability to let their mind go somewhere else for that long.
funny that you should say that. i used to lothe running too. i SWORE i would never run. in high school when they made us "run" i only ran 1 lap and walked the rest - that way i was guarenteed a D and a D = passing! then i started running to get fit for climbing. after a bit i got used to it. now i like it. never say never. you might like it one day.
Hehe if only you knew. Mr Combs ran 8 miles 3 days a weeks with me last summer did it for 3 months straight. Outside. Thats pretty much giving somthing a full commitment in my book. And I'm pretty sure he still doesn't like running.

kirker, too true. if he gave it an honest go and still doesn't like it then it's time to switch gears and get out a bike. or rollerblades. or jump rope. or run a circut course (the kind where you stop every so often and do an exercise on the equipment provided). or swim. or horseback ride. or play raquet ball. or tennis. or a good ol' fashioned game of tag. or soccer. or....
there are lotsa options other than running.

Agreed, unless you're doing Peter Croft type shit, which none of us are.

nice lead crank, thanks Pete, too bad we don't have an eighty meter cord huh? I hear ya,and we both laughed quite awhile, until it went so long that it became a bit akward, like that scene in Austin Powers with Dr Evil

i can literally run for maybe 2 minutes, and i'm pretty happy with my climbing. i guess i'd be a lot better if i started running?
