I am the last one to defend the hard Xtian perspective. The egocentrism of the philosophy leads to many social ills IMO.
I just listened to the preacher posted by LKDay, but i saw no antiwhite anything. He does not define all whites as enemies. He eludes to racist whites as enemies. He calls for change. Furthermore he says that Jesus teaches him to love his enemies. The main message to the congregation is that Obama and not Hillary is their candidate because Obama can identify with the congregation. What I find most curious is why Larry is nervous about this video.
My favorite hypothetical candidate would be one who would strongly commit to racial, gender, and gender-preference egalitarianism and one who would commit to hard church / state separation despite his/her religious convictions or lack of religious convictions. I would also gravitate toward an environmentalist. I think Bush is worse than Obama on these fronts. Anyone in the Republican party is worse on these fronts than either Hillary or Barack.

The only thing that guy preached was HATE, hate of all races except Black.
He said "America had slaves, should I say God Bless America, no I say God Damn America" "America supports the Israelis taking Palestinian Land, arent Palestinians
the Black man, so should I say God Bless America, I say God Damn America"
'We live in the Ukkka" "God Damn America" verbatim, from the clip, I may have left out a few other hate Whitey lines, but that says it all. I'm a Christian, I have no problem with Jesus being Black, Brown or otherwise, I owned no slaves, so this guy should preach hate against me, I don't hate on him, I dont use the "N" word!
How can he even preach Christianity when theres no Christ in anything he says!
As stated in another post, I'm almost one hundred percent neutral this go around minus a few issues near and dear to my heart(2nd Amendment) mostly, the Border, but thats why I cant pick a candidate, they all are against my views there.
So I hope this really isnt Obams Views, they're worse than Radical Islam, these are home grown terriosts........

oh, because you have a lemming mentality agenda...
no consistency. no rational arguments. FAIL.
What? When did I say that "all the neo cons were crazy bible thumpers"?
You seem to be non-specifically bothered by what Rev. Wright is saying. But none of you can quote him or cite written examples of what he is saying and why you find it objectionable. Write out his words and explain why its so bad.
So, here's an example of what I'm asking for:
All hurricanes are acts of God, because God controls the heavens. I believe that New Orleans had a level of sin that was offensive to God, and they are -- were recipients of the judgment of God for that. The newspaper carried the story in our local area that was not carried nationally that there was to be a homosexual parade there on the Monday that the Katrina came. And the promise of that parade was that it was going to reach a level of sexuality never demonstrated before in any of the other Gay Pride parades. So I believe that the judgment of God is a very real thing. I know that there are people who demur from that, but I believe that the Bible teaches that when you violate the law of God, that God brings punishment sometimes before the day of judgment. And I believe that the Hurricane Katrina was, in fact, the judgment of God against the city of New Orleans.
So, Hagee is saying that when that elderly lady in her home in the 9th Ward crawled up into her attic to escape the flooding waters, then realized she was trapped and started clawing at the boards of the roof above as the water rose, then drown, alone and terrified,
that was Hagee's God punishing her because of a pride parade. He claims that open homosexuality is so theologically terrible that his version of God would kill thousands of people who had nothing to do with anything "gay".
That strikes me as the words of a religious fanatic. He is "transferring" his own hatred onto the vision of God that he has created for himself, and imagining a murderous lashing out at the world. He is creating a hated group (who happen to be weak), he is talking about actual, physical violence against that group, and he is using a religious justification for that violence. Nowhere in that is he talking about God's love or Jesus' dictate that we love our "enemies."
Now, please provide a quote from Rev. Wright that is vaguely comparable and spell out what you think is even vaguely as bad. From what I've seen, there is no inconsistency in decrying Hagee's venom and hatred and shrugging at (or even agreeing with) Rev. Wright's call for social justice and a better America.

I usually don't chime in on these debates, but tomdarch eludes to one point that always drives me crazy. It ticks me off when preachers use mass destruction (natural or otherwise) as a platform for their "God is punshing the wicked" nonsense. Remember, Abraham asked God to spare Sodom and Gomorrah if he could find just 10 righteous people. The fact that there was only Lot and his family(conveniently related to Abraham) caused God to destroy the city. If just a few other righteous would have exisited then the cities would have been saved.
So, even if New Orleans were 50% homosexual, and homosexuality was a sin, they still would have not met the quota to become deserving of the wrath of God. Yes, a woman trying to claw her way out of an attic is a tragic thought. But it is the result of a bad storm and crappy defense supplied by antiquated levy's. So shut up with the vengence speech already.
Sorry to disrupt, continue the Barack / McCain bashing.

Where and how?

What would you do if you were Palestinian? You can divorce yourself from the Jingoism by simply asking this question, by simply putting yourself in the other fellows' shoes.
gunslnga wrote: 'We live in the Ukkka" "God Damn America" verbatim, from the clip, I may have left out a few other hate Whitey lines, but that says it all.
Ahh. that was weak. He is out of control and critical (typical of the southern protestant charismatic style of preaching), but there is not hate there.

I have a problem with Christians' need to reform their Messiah in their own image. The fact that the preacher is as daft as to want a black Jesus bothers me. I suspect that this is in reaction to all those white jesus hanging in pictures in black peoples' homes.
- There is no historical evidence for Jesus, hence no historical evidence for his race.
- From the Christian perspective he used a mortal body to make a point, suffer, spill blood to appease dad and he went back to heaven. Why should being Man, woman, black, white or yellow be an issue? According to the fable, being human I suppose, was necessary.

yeah, this thread is all likely a red herring. I would not want a president this radically religious. We would be back to G. Bush.
