I was there last Saturday with a few members of "Team Suck" and we talked to Kathy. She said that since the pet policy there has been some improvement.
We were four out of about 10 people at Torrant on Saturday. Everybody seemed to be following the rules. Though oddly the Canadians knew nothing of the new rules, they were just responsible and well mannered. I did pick up a little trash, but very little (a little tape, and a wrapper or two). I also tried to tell everyone we met there about the threat to closure and the new rules.
Big thanks to Kathy and Mark for letting us all play.

I was there last Sunday when a party of about of about six people shows up to climb the easier routes on the right side of the 11 wall. I hadn't seen any of them before. So I thought I would ask them if they were aware of the recent threat of closure at TF. I told the people that I was a friend of the property owners. They were not aware of the problems. I asked them if they had seen the kiosk and if they had made any donations on the way in. They didn't see the kiosk so they didn't know. They told me that they would put some money in on the way out. I believed them. They seemed to be good people.
The thing that gets me is how people walk right past the kiosk. I mean it is right at the steps. Why don't people stop to read what a landowner/manager has obviously taken the time to build, install, and post messages that seem to be of some importance to them? When I go someplace new and see kiosks or signs, I read them. Is there something wrong with me? Am I afraid that I will get caught not reading the info? Or could it be like the trick test in school. Your teacher informs you that it is a speed and accuracy test and to read the instructions before starting. He then informs you that the clock is ticking. So you grab your #2 and start answering questions as fast as you can without having read the instructions. I am assuming of course that everyone here has taken this test. So.........maybe climbers are just in to great of a hurry to tie in and send.

They make lousy belayers, though. They keep taking their paws off the brake end. I wouldn't trust one without a gri-gri.
