Damn, ya'll- it's just a rope ladder- and it sucks, period. No need to get your panties in a wad.

It's gone anyways. I was just there this weekend and it was gone. The trail to vision isn't that clear. I didn't know to go around until our way out.

My dogs made it up to that ledge without using roots or a ladder.

This was the ladder the little kids that climb Eureka used to get on the ledge?
Why would anyone cut down access to a climbing route for little kids?
If we used some of the current logic of this thread we would be tearing down
trail access and bridges to the climbing areas because it makes access to easy
and safe. The kids that climb Eureka are not big enough to get up the rock step by Vison
on their own. If you are going to climb the big kids routes on the other side why would
you even care about the rope ladder unless you were using it yourself ?
If you’re afraid of bridges, ladders and trials making the experience cheap,
don’t use them, but don’t destroy what little infrastructure is on FS land to begin with.
Vandalism is easy and talk is cheap so lets see someone put their money where
their mouth is and put the rope back up there for the smaller climbers.

You don't need to go up that to get to Eureka. Are your kids lazy.

this is hysterical. i put that rope there because i had a useless piece of rope i had cut off and thought on the way out i'd tie it to that useless root. happy others found it useful. btw my doggy couldn't make it up that 5.11 slab and my wifey was bitchin too. thought i'd help other doggys and lovers with a problem. oh and try it when it's wet it goes 5.13 then. who did the fa?

Whoever broke off the last of the roots and dirt that were there that made it easy.

I don't know that I'd call a rotten rope ladder "infrastructure." My personal policy is still to cut down any hillbilly ladders I find.

I once found an old decaying rope hanging down the entire length of Indian Staircase. That one went home with me where it was burned.

For those who seem to think this ladder was an old piece of rope somebody threw up and then forgot to take down on the way out, you obviously didn't see it. This was a ladder formed by 4 steps made from 2x4's with holes drilled in the ends, put together with dynamic rope. It obviously was not a temporary thing that some careless person chose not to remove -- it was intended to stay there. Frankly, other than the fact it was a little funky because it was done with dynamic rope, I found it kinda convenient!
