Rope ladder at Global

Post by ynp1 »

does anyone else think it was a really bad idea to use a dynamic rope to make a rope ladder? i think it needs to be cut down and replaced with a static rope. thanks for all the effort, it looks great, but really sucks in practice.

I agree, good idea, bad implentation. That whole area has changed alot over the last few years. Needs some trail work for sure.

Perhaps next time I am going there I will. Since I had not been there in a year or so, I didn't know to bring any trail building materials/equipment with me. Not sure when I, personally, will go back, so I thought it might be good to bring up. So that way, perhaps someone else will think to bring something with them if they happen to be heading that way.

How long of a rope do we need to replace it?

i used this ladder a few weeks ago
i can see what your saying
but it worked

anyway
i have some used climbing rope used in the tree industry
id like to offer it
its thick heavy duty static rope similar to our climbing ropes
but i think it would stand up better for this kind of job
i dont mean to come off so jaded
id just rather not be part of the problem
if i can do anything about it

i think we all could do more

ill be down this weekend
pm me if you are in charge of this area
and would like my help

yeah i have been going up there a lot lately. i really like the place so i would not mind helping out.

i think the ladder now sure just be cut down. you may want to use some of its parts to make the new one. you could also just hang a static rope down the rock with a bunch of knots in it. then you could easily just hand-over-hand and walk up the rock.
