Well, I dunno about a few years...you point in the direction to stuff that'll take me that long at the Red and I'll change my signature. Sound good? Let's have at it then.Wicked Tribe wrote:I'd love to head down south and check out the bouldering. Unfortunately I'm poor and married with a 11 month old while working and going to school full time.
Since being a dirtbag climber isn't my priority in life right now the Red will have to suffice. I'm happy to say, for me, it does. For anyone else in my situation the Red makes a nice bouldering area. If you live close enough and don't mind going off the beaten path there are hundreds of problems that will keep you busy for a few years.
For anyone who is all about having the perfect climbing experience then I'd say yeah, go somewhere else.

I spent at least an entire season trying really hard to convince myself that the bouldering at the red was good. i endured insults from friends for even bringing along a pad, my rope collected dust for a year while i bouldered in vain.
it's not!!
the guide book is not only bad, it's bad for the red as far as access goes so don't buy it! don't even talk about it.
in my opinion only two problems at the red are worth trying: Double Helix (NOT a v4 a v2 actually) and The Pearl (NOT a V5 at least v6).
anyway, don't bring a pad to the red unless you plan on using it to pound some 17 year old hotty you met at phantasia.... no, strike that......
anyway, don't be a douche like i was for so long. if you go to the red, rope the f up and get on bad ass lines.
if you want to boulder, go elswhere...
i am sure this will surprise wes and mia and even climb high. ps, you guys missed a hell of a party back here.... wish you'd have made it... see ya around....
