Bouldering

Post by garageclimber »

has there been any talk of developing a guidbook section for bouldering in the red? such as devoloping more bouldering in the coffee shop and set ratings for problems in the developed section. There is a ton of undeveloped rock if you keep going along the rock towrds torrent there is an enormous amount of rock that people dont even climb on they just go to the obvious area at the top of the trail. like we do in night bouldering sessions for those who have gone with me and my buddies there, there's been some great nights with 15 or more for some night sessions this past summer. however alot is by word of mouth and making your own problems. and what about other areas, i have heard of others but never been. anyways just wondering cause i know friction slab is in the online book and theres only like 4 things to do there. just wondering, thinks.

I wish there was but I think there was some type of FS issue about bouldering and reporting it, wasn't there, maybe it would be better if the FS could police themselves and chill on the citizens in light of that Grant county thingy.

Gall's in Lexington carries a "Bouldering Guide" to the Red - but yeah, I hear it sucks too..I have flipped thru it and have no opinion. Someone said it has directions like: "Look for the fallen tree..."
Uh, OK.

Best bet is to just go with someone who knows their shit.

"Whats FS mean?" sheesh thats funny. I think the coffee shop is private land with an absintee landowner. Has nothing to do with the Forestry Service. All the same, dont be an ass. keep it clean. The OW to the extreme right ,next to Torrent has been done.

The bouldering in the red is pointless, it sucks, if you want to boulder just go to some other place like rock town or hp 40, I was just there and it was awsome as usual.
One of these days I will just walk out to some secluded crag in the red and hang my self will my favorite hex and my old climbing rope; and the paper will read "Climber falls and dies using primitive gear." But that's not how I want to be remembered.
