Thank goodness because I'm hoping you will mentor me, woman! Sport, trad - it's ALL good.
You KNOW where we have to go when my arm is ready to jam... (and the no trespassing signs come down). But ME FIRST!

On sport routes it is really sort of silly to even care whether or not the draws were prehung. Afterall, where a draw happens to hang is entirely dependent on where the person who drilled the route decided to place the bolt. And as much as we like to think there are "standards" for bolting, there are a lot of differences among different bolter's routes. Thus, there is good reason for people working a route to place a long draw, whereas another climber may choose not to because of differences in reach, height, etc. Afterall, it is sport climbing not trad climbing...the location of gear is predetermined by someone else (i.e., bolter) and is thus somewhat contrived.
deal with it wrote:screw Sharma and screw how many people have done the climb. Climbing is such a personal thing that you should not be considering other people at all. as for the term redpoint and pinkpoint I don't really care about those words but I do care about how hard it was for me to do it. If hanging the draws really does make it harder then that is more of an accomplishment and your fooling yourself if you think other wise.
as for those who like to brag I am glad that they can climb for everyone else because they sure as hell are not climbing for themselves

I just think it's funny that a person can hack on someone for TRing and then get all flabbergasted when someone says "hey, you didn't really redpoint it, it's more like a pinkpoint." Either way, I could care less but it's pretty revealing that our egos are definitely involved if we have this response. As for me, my ego is always involved. I admit it.

For us older fellers climbing trad lets me scare the shit out of myself wih less physical exertion. It's about efficiency.
