Pink Point (a forgoten term)
Since PU2 brought it up what happened to the idea of pink pointing. I agree that hanging the draws is not a big deal on some climbs but on the overhung stuff it is a big deal. Everyone just seems to use this catch all word of sending the climb. I sometimes think I am the only one with any ethics (oh no not that word again) anymore
Don't try and impress anyone, its you own blood you bleed man.
Wow that didn't take long
Someone better call Chris Sharma and tell him that after working the crap out of Realization for a year plus and finally sending it with the draws hung and he first bolt preclipped his ascent is invalidated and that he needs to go back and do it ground up hanging all his own draws like a real MAN

Lest we all forget... climbing is a mostly meaningless pursuit that we do for fun.

It's all about what you feel good about. I don't mind telling myself I sent a route with the draws hanging because it seems to be pretty accepted. Now if I'd done a route like Crankenstein with the gear pre-placed then I wouldn't feel good about it since hanging on one shitty crimper facing a grounder while using the "feel technique" to determine which stopper is going to fit in the slot that I can't see is really what makes the route difficult.
There are some routes that a draw hang makes a difference (that higher clip on Superslab for one!) but fuck it........nobody gives a shit if you say "I hung my own draws!". They just look at you like you're a fucking idiot for making a deal out of it........because that is what you are if you're bragging about that shit.
If you want to be a hero for placing pro then do routes where the pro is tricky to place.

you can tell your self it is all what you feel good about but you have to admit that it does make a difference in a lot of climbs, more than some people will admit to themselves. as for bragging about hanging the draws, I don’t think you should be coming back and bragging about anything.

Yea, but at this level......does anyone really give a shit?
Anybody climbing under the world class grades (5.14c) shouldn't be concerned about whether or not hanging a fucking draw is making a difference in their fagpoint. We're all just recreational climbers trying to repeat routes that have been done 100000 times over.
Like Power2u said....go tell Sharma his ascent didn't count.

screw Sharma and screw how many people have done the climb. Climbing is such a personal thing that you should not be considering other people at all. as for the term redpoint and pinkpoint I don't really care about those words but I do care about how hard it was for me to do it. If hanging the draws really does make it harder then that is more of an accomplishment and your fooling yourself if you think other wise.
as for those who like to brag I am glad that they can climb for everyone else because they sure as hell are not climbing for themselves
