Does Wii Fit count?

Laugh all you want, but at least it's 45 minutes I'm not sitting on the couch eating pretzels.

Most people think of yoga only as the postures. It is much more than that.
Wow! Lilias! I practiced with her when she was on Cinci tv about 100 years ago....well, actually close to 50! Definitely my guru!

where do you people find the time? Yoga and workout and gym training and aerobics and still time to climb?
maybe that's why i'm no good...somebody tell me, please, what's the minimum time/maximum efficiency activity for improving climbing, other than climbing?

I'm with Bill on this. Yoga postures are just one of the 5 elements of a properly designed yoga practice. Yeah, asanas may help you gain flexibility but it's really been more of a spiritual practice than physical for me. If you're just thinking it's gonna get you fitter then you may be missing the purpose.

The 5 points of the Sivananda training program, what I've always patterned my practice after are...

Proper Exercise
Proper Breathing
Proper Relaxation
Proper Diet
Positive Thinking and Meditation

The Proper Exercise is the easiest part in my experience and really doesn't work nearly as well unless coupled with equal focus on breathing and relaxation. Stretch on the floor if your goals are simply physical, yoga is more than that and may not be the most efficient way to get you where you want to be.

Then again, if what you are doing helps then roll with it!

The best way to get better at climbing is through proper climbing.

But, as Charlie said... if its workin, go for it... this shit is all in your head anyway...

I don't expect to make climbing gains through yoga directly. I started doing yoga again to help heal my back pain. I understand this is purely physical and as Charlie said yoga is not purely physical. However, I feel that the deep breathing while holding a pose really assists to stretch the muscles involved. So for my case yoga is a good "physical" tool for healing.
