I have seen a lot of the emergent holes recently. Keep your eyes peeled under fruit trees, wild cherries and holly trees. If there are a bunch of nickel size holes, you can bet you will find dry exoskelotons on the trees. Sugar maples are a good place to find them too.

Different brood - maybe overlapping territory.
