dmw, placing at a horse race is not winning. this isn't some feel good sport climbing comp at the local gym, where we reward the "beginners" with new ropes and screw the fourth place dude/dudette in elite...only one wins, everyone else is a loser.

They call it in the money for a reason. This is horse racing and I'll not defer to Piggie's experience/opinion in this matter.

charlie, I couldn't even begin to tell you what a thoroughbred is...except it is a fast horse. and I wrongly assumed that the word "win" was being used for the position of the horse in the race, not in the "in the money" terminology.

to win the triple crown, the horse will have to win all three races correct? not just place "in the money'?
