While the Mustang is affordable and powerful, it's not balanced very well for a new production car. Actually a lot like the old GT350/500, point and shoot, but don't try to turn. Gotta admit though I'm a big fan of the Mustang (my second car was a '67 fastback, brought it home in truckloads and put it back together).
But if you're dreaming, I'll take a new GT (40). The original Shelby's are awesome too. Rode in a kit car with a small block (351 vs 428), WOW. If I had a big enough of garage I'd know what I'd be saving my pennies for.
Not too hip on the style of the Elise, but you can pick up a used Esprit at a fraction of the cost and I think they are much sexier.
First SUV? IH? I don't think so. Land Rover.
