i don't understand the poll either if the midgets aren't really an option. people only have one choice in t-shirt design? i'm also not sure what kind of feedback you're looking for. possible designs maybe?
Yo HO!! Just got me a code red and some funyons big dawg!!! SHIT YEAH! - Ray, excited about his breakfast
Diggum,
That was awesome, finally somebody standing up for all the working slobs with kids and responsibilities, who juggle all that, to "volunteer" what precious little time
they have after doing all the above. Here! Here! You are my new hero!, I voted simple and can wear all year, I'm already a tee shirt and jeans guy. Keep up the good work, and Thanks!

The enemy of my enemy is my friend.....
I guess I was looking for whether the majority would be happy with a simple design or not. Although I do not have much time to give...I want people to like the work I do & want to wear the shirts.
Thanks for your post Gunslinga...that made me feel much better & it was sweet of you to say.

OK.
Yes, diggum, you do know me. I was going to wait until we met to address this thread, but since you chose to accost me in a public forum, then I shall rebut in the same.
I am afraid that I do not believe that you are actually looking so much for feedback as a 'pat on the back'. C'mon, you want serious feedback on a poll that contains 'Lederhosen wearin midgets holding beer steins"? Subjective terms, 'cool'? I have(?) to do these in one color. The poll is loaded, there is no input needed. After all, because you are not giving us 'options'.
Let's start with the credentials (since I have no idea what I'm talking about and should probably just shut up). I have been involved with design and graphic design for almost 25 years. In the course of these years I have designed everything from, what's this, t-shirts and posters for local fund-raisers to corporate identity and collateral sales materials for major, national corporations, as well as consulting in product design, photography, showroom and space planning. I have also won more local and national awards for design than would fit in your biggest closet. Oh, but there's something else? He actually worked for screenprinter's to pay his way through school? What, these were small shops where he actually had to learn every step of the process? Oh well, that couldn't be relevant could it?
So what else is there? Yes, that's right, the numbered list. Again, no options because you don't want there to be any options because...
1. You are not getting paid.
Don't volunteer. I have seen more people use this excuse. Just be honest and say 'I don't have time, I don't want to, I don't care', but please don't use the excuse of I am not getting paid. Again, then don't volunteer.
2. I have a 50+ hour a week regular job.
And so do I. In fact, I've probably been working a 50+ hour work week since you were in Kindergarten.
3. I have a toddler at home.
And I have two pre-driving adolescent children. We make the decisions to have and raise them, let's not hide behind them to make us sound like we are so special.
4. I'm training for a marathan.
Bragging or Complaining? What does this have to do with anything except 'me, me, me'? I also have goals, and I take them into consideration along with everything else when making decisions about whether or not to accept a project.
5. This event is only 3 weeks away (so basically I don't have time).
We have the time we make, according to the choices we make. I have created a more in a lot less. Time is a condition that has to be addressed when you take on the job.
As far as volunteering, I have given my time and talent this past year to the American Alpine Club (yes, you know, that International Organization) as well as the local climbing gym (Rocksport, shameless plug). And I have also given my time to my neighbors when asked to help (or if it just looks like they need it), and I have also been volunteering to help feed the homeless at St. Vincent DePaul as well as transporting our oldest child to the Home of the Innocents for volunteering. And if a good deed can be done, just do it. Hold the door for the person behind you, change lanes to allow traffic to merge, count to 10 before firing off a caustic post. There's more, but you get the point.
I am far from perfect. And some days I am probably referred to as such. But I try to be constantly aware of my actions and choices. Perhaps the next time you want to vent or need a pat on the back, just say so. Don't hide behind excuses or offer up options that don't exist.
As for next year, I will gladly consider helping. And might I suggest that whoever is on the committee or in charge of the festival post their requests for needs and services. Perhaps I missed it, but I have never seen a public request.
Yes, I could go on and on but I am sure someone else is now itchin' to take a shot at me, so have at...

I was thinking perhaps one of those no-sleeve-beat-your-wife white type shirts with I'm a Badass" on the back........
You do some great work digggum, don't take any shit from anybody! As far as the shirt, I like a basic small logo. Could be just words, no complex graphics. Whatever you come up with I'm sure will be cool!
