Wow, SCIN, that is hardcore. Thanks!
Oh I tried out those new headphones this afternoon on my run. Man, the music really messed up my pace. Does anyone else have that problem? I'm not sure I want to run with tunes.

I never liked running, cycling ,hiking, making love or other aerobic activities while listening to music. It is too distracting. Multitasking removes you from the present moment which is all there is.

I don't run while listening to music because it's dangerous. You cannot hear what is going on around you so you're more prone to obvious dangers. For example, you cannot hear cars, you cannot hear people near you or bikes. I used to run with music until one of my bosses said, "ahhh, candidate for rape?" I was living in DC at the time and tried to shrug him off as over protective. Unfortunately, I cannot shake the thought that it's one simple thing I can do to be safer.

I run in a nature preserve, and I rarely see anyone there. The headphones I got are open air, too, so I can still hear what's going on around me so long as I don't have the music turned up really loudly. I wanted to distract myself from all the voices in my head. I was also hoping the music would energize me to run farther, but I noticed I couldn't get my breathing and pacing groove on with the tunes playing. Maybe I need to pick different music? Or maybe I'll just go back to running without it.

I used to run while listening to Rancid. It was really great stuff. Very high energy.

Sandy go to whittleton, just down the road from miguels, and in the back they have one trail the is 1 mile to some nice scenery or 2 miles to highway 15. I use to run them on my rest days.
