I was leaving the Kenyan compound around 3:15-3:25pm on 9/28/11 and noticed a really suspicious looking couple (man & woman, mid 30's to early 40's, black). They were walking down the trail between the palm tree and the mission church.

The woman was in front and she smiled and waved, the man was walking behind her and he smiled at us too, but he was carrying some sort of old water bucket, looked like a big bucket on a wooden handle, like something you'd carry water with. It might have been a western style bucket but whatever it was it was worn and looked old.

I only saw them briefly but they looked local, wearing brightly colored clothing and looking pretty haggard. They were refugee class locals, the woman's face was particularly haggard, probably years of alcohol, smoking, drugs, starvation, etc. She had below-shoulder-length dred locked- black hair, he had shorter graying brown hair and some messy facial hair. I don't remember what they were wearing and I don't think I could identify them again. I only had a passing glance as we drove by, I looked first at the woman and then at the bucket the man was carrying.

In hindsight, I really wish I'd notified the British Army since I was aware of uprisings in the area, and they definitely looked like trouble, but a lot of the Kenyon people I see wandering around look kinda suspicious (sorry for generalizing) so my partner and I made a joke about them needing education, food, equality and independence and kept going. In any event, I regret not doing something more after I saw them, and after seeing this topic I apologize to those who were possibly affected by this nefarious pair. But please note before anyone starts beating up every local Kenyon couple out for a stroll, I am NOT sure that these are the culprits, but at the very least it's something to keep an eye out for.

Sorry for the delayed response, I was actually out rock climbing instead of trolling a message board. But I'm glad you all had a good time playing Mad Libs with my description, hopefully that made your day 0.001% more amusing.

Maybe my description was too vague, so let me boil down a few facts about what I saw:

* I was leaving the PMRP on the day and during the hours that the break-ins occurred.
* I saw a man and a woman walking down the Lode hill. They were past Philz, past the little graveyard, there was nothing else on the road for them but the PMRP ahead.
* The man was carrying what looked like a old mattock. Basically a blunt-headed axe. Whatever it was could easily smash a car window
* The woman that smiled at me looked like a fucking methhead. Haggard face, fuct up teeth, generally looking like she'd been up to no good. The dude wasn't any better but he was behind her so I mostly noticed the gnarly axe-thing he was carrying over his shoulder.

So, with that in mind, I would recommend that if anyone sees this couple heading to PMRP again, you should consider notifying the authorities, they may be responsible for smashing the car windows and stealing the possessions of your fellow climbers.

Thanks

Foster - I spoke with someone yesterday that said there was another breakin and a man and woman just as you described were identified (not caught though). Sounds like you saw them just before this breakin, THANK YOU for posting that info on this site.

I'll ask them if they need a lift if i see them...maybe I can get some DNA on a water bottle or something and match it to prints on the cars.
