Popular Climbing Areas in Colorado
I will be heading to Colorado with Sco the beginning of August and would like some feedback from you all about places you have been. What areas should we avoid and since we will only be there for roughly 7 days where would be some good places to go. Looking at doing single to multipitch sport and definately some multipitch trad (5.5-5.10).
Who Me? I gotta hitch hike god damn 18 miles to get a god damn beer......that's bullshit.
South Platte - beautiful area, away from the Boulder scene
Unaweep Canyon - all to yourself, close to Utah
Eldorado - classic
Shelf Road and Rifle will be hot, but if want some adventure and no crowds head to the West Slope..Independance Pass, Black Canyon of the Gunnison

Southern Utah - Where the women are men and the sheep are scared
Lumpy Ridge: Pear Buttress (5.8), Osirus (5.7), J-Crack (5.9), Fat City Crack (5.10) all at The Book. 4-5 pitches each
Eldo: Bastile Crack (5.8, 4 pitches), Yellow Spur (5.9/5.10, 7 pitches)
There are a few multipitch sport routes in Bolted..ahem..I mean Boulder Cayon. Rock Odessey comes to mind.
Gobbler's Grunt at Turkey Rocks (South Platte) 5.9, 4 pitches. Do the variation instead of the first pitch chimney. Unless you are into that kind of thing. Lots of top notch single pitch cracks from 5.10-5.12 on the Turkey Tail to round out your day.
Everybody's favorite sport climbing area Clear Creek Canyon. Should be open by the time you get here. hehehe
Don't forget a trip up the Flatirons.
That should be a start.
Let me know if you need more beta.
