Any of you tried this stuff? It's a meat substitute made from some kind of subteranean (sp?) fungus. I just tried the "chicken pattie style" and declare it to be quite good. Make a nice sauce for it and it'd be excellent. The texture is outstanding, it is moist inside, and really tastes nice. It's not too horribly expensive either, if only there were a store within 10 miles that sells it.
How are the other "styles"? Any other particularly good meat substitutes out there? Not that I'm going to stop eating meat but I like to keep my diet simple but varied.

I've always thought that was funny, too. I know several people who are vegetarians on moral grounds and they don't seem to have a good answer for why it's bad to eat an animal but OK to pretend to eat an animal.KD wrote:ive been a vegeterian for about 14 years now and have always wondered why people want to make our food look and feel more like meat.
That said, I am not a vegetarian because it makes you argumentative.
i'm witcha kato. it bugs me when i go to a restaraunt and all they have is "veggie-burgers, " etc. I eat 'em when i have to though because it's that, salad, or go hungry. seen wierd stuff like fake sausage, fake bacon (facon?) all kinds of stuff like that designed to make us more accaptable to meat eaters. probably invented by the same folks who designed "chicken fingers" and other nonexistant animal parts.
they make it look like meat b/c everyone knows you really WANT to eat meat...you're just argumentative & stubborn.
besides...what do you want it to look like? a tree? that wouldn't fit nicey between 2 slices of bread now would it?
