A little Wes beta before leaving Miguels was all I ever needed.

I like to figure things out on my own. Kind of like working a puzzle. Its nice to have that "aha" moment. I'll ask for help when I finally decided I need it.

I like to at least try things before people starting shouting beta. I hate it when as soon as you get on a climb there is a guy yelling nonstop beta to where I can't even think. I like useful beta when I'm stumped on a problem, but "useful" is different for different people.

My husband has learned the hard way about my feelings towards beta. But now he knows when to tell be something and when I just need to work it out myself.

Please be quiet unless I ask you to not be quiet. The sound of my own breathing helps me move up.

I like the quiet when I climb. That way it's just between me and the rock. Sometimes I tend to yell a bit of encouragement or maybe question a gear placement, but I really do try to keep my mouth shut.

Hearing specific beta takes a lot out of a climb, too. You lose all the pleasure of discovery when you know something is a jug before you lunge for it. I'm all for someone telling me there's a jug when I'm about to peel or telling me to rethink a move, but don't give me step by step instructions until I'm shut down. I guess I'm undecided overall.
