Firefox users - question

Post by Guest »

I just upgraded to Firefox 1.0. For some damn reason it's not caching images. For example, everytime I look at this forum, it slowly reloads every damn image (including smilies, little page icons, etc.). I have a 5M cache set up. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

I've never had that problem with it, but you should make sure you have enough disk space to store the amount in Tools->Options->Privacy->Cache.

you most likely want more then a 5M cache.

I have a 50 MB cache set with Firefox 1.0 on my powerbook.

5 might not be enough, esp. with all the porn you look at.

the problem actually went away after I closed my browser and reopened it.

I know Microsoft has lots of cash to burn, but are they really sinking so low as to pay people (or develop an automated system) to spread FUD* against Firefox? Unless "Trinity" is going to get all "haxor badass" and explain why Lynx is the ONLY browser to use, I can't imagine what his/her objection could be to a reasonably stable, fast, standards compliant browser, that has significatly better de facto security than IE and is free.

(* FUD is "Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt" and is the core of Microsoft's sales and marketing approach. They get people thinking "Oh my, if I stop using Windows, maybe I won't be able to play games, or maybe I wont be able to read e-mail from all the Windows users out there, or maybe, uh, I don't know, something bad will happen!" Something bad is happening to Windows users: viruses and spyware. But for some odd reason people are reluctant to move to another operating system, or even to use a better browser. Why? Because they have fears, uncertainty and doubts....)

Seriously - what's with this "Trinity" posting. There's no personal information that I can see on the "profile". It's like someone was looking for discussion threads about Firefox, created an 'empty' user account with a 'hacker-esque' user name, and posted FUD about Firefox. I know I can be paranoid, but this is wierd.

Ray - does the user info you can see on this account contradict my paranoid theory?

Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt? Sounds like the agenda of the current administration.
