reasons to not go until spring:
-he doesn't have people to climb with. not many people are down right now which means its a whole lot harder to find people to climb with.
-the people who are actually down there climbing are probably using this beautiful weather to send and work harder projects so they likely won't be too excited about helping out a kid get on a 5.6
Learning to climb....

If you are indeed in Lexington, the Stadium has a nice big climbing tower. It's auto-belay, so you wouldn't need a partner. A climber I know went there once a week and worked until he could climb without using any of the holds. Last time I saw him, he was running up 11s. After the holidays, I would be glad to meet you there one night and we could get you oriented to the place. It's a long drive for me, or I would go more often. My climbing really improved when I was going there last year.
If you "can drive now," you have plenty of time to get better. By the time you are my age, you will have been climbing over 40 years. Don't let the weather stop you, I think I missed about two weekends last winter. We climbed in snow and rain. Don't become discouraged and quit; you may truly regret that.
Your true friends will be your friends regardless. You will find the best friends are your climbing friends.
If I could lead without screwing my beaners shut, I would take you with me. If you do indeed hook up with Ynot, you will learn a great deal. He is the trad daddy. Good luck, and hang (no pun intended) in there.

What I love about running is you can meditate while running. It's a peaceful place.

everyone is being awfully nice.
or at least nicer than usual.
Or that a lot of us have long vacations and are headed out climbing for a good chunk of them.

I just figure he's actually from Italy or something because his post is just too bad to be a native born English speaker. The syntax is way too confused to be explained by illiteracy alone. Hopefully he doesn't just ride on the short bus and... oh... does anyone remember those "climbing" pictures with the "special" people from earlier in the year...
I'm guessing it's a regular yanking our chain.
