I just moved to Richmond from Pike county hopeing to find a decent job and finish school up. My moms new boyfriend's step- son had his birthday down in knoxville TN in a climbing gym. I had the time of my life and wantn more. Do anyone know were a climbing gym is close by. And is there some any rock close to richmond i can hit afteer school. i just fonud this site looking for rock climbing in ky, but didnt find any for richmond.

Any gear shops close by. i need to buy shoes and chalk bag. anyone have any suggestions for first pair.

Try on several kinds and buy the ones that fit best. There isnt that much difference in the rubber.

Lex is probably the closest to you for gear, Philip Galls or J&H Lanmark. Cinci or Knoxville is the closest gym. Rock, I'm not sure. Berea has rock but I'm not sure where exactly.

EKU has a climbing wall...Mayor how tall is it--30 ft, 40ft? If you are a student it's free, just make sure you have a student ID and a TOWEL..they are Nazis at the gym. Grades range from 5.8 to sick. As far as rock goes, it take about the same amount of time to get to rock in the RRG as it does rock in Berea, and well the RRG is better.

rock gym at eku. berea has "OK" bouldering, hike to devil's kitchen go down break in cliff. 20 min to get there. only 45-50 min from the red in richmond. have fun!
