Tom, it looks great! Just a suggestion, but is there a way you can get the links to open up in a separate window? I don't know if you have access to the underlying source code at all, but in HTML all you have to do is stick a "TARGET=_blank" at the end of the <A HREF> tag.

Yeah, I wasn't happy about the current behavior, but I just slapped it up anyway. (I was happy to have actually made the updates after 6 months) This is all happening inside "Acrobat/PDF land" so I don't know if there's a way to add HTML, or if opening a new window is even possible. I'll look into it.

I bought some of your trail maps and I really like them. they take the hassles out of navigating. This map looks like just the ticket for someone new to the Red. We had problems on or trip making sense out of guides and ledge systems at unfamiliar places. Just finding the base of routes became an acomplishment.

Could be my map. ynot, it sounds like it was useful so I hope it was my map!

We have 2 titles published for the Red. One is for backcountry camping and is series of 2-color maps. It contains a booklet that shows trail elevation profiles and trailside photography.

The other is a 1-color 18x25 inch map with about 48 climbing areas mapped. This one was proofed right here on this site. If you look in the lower left-hand corner on the Southern Gorge side, you can read the screen names of people who helped.

Whoa. I never noticed the corner of the map. Pretty cool. Are you still working on the Sheltowee Trace map? If you have any questions about the mountain biking then you might want to PM T-Bone.

Thanks J-Rock...I've wanted to talk more with T-Boone.

Yep, http://www.Sheltoweetrace.com is an active mapping project. I am trying to get citizen mappers with handheld GPS units involved. I figure if I can give users a chance to submit GPS data and post edit comments, I can make a better map. People who contribute get a credit in the final pub and those whose give their last measure of devotion get some booty...not booty time, but free swag, like a map.

As a lure for GPS users, I put up a 40m resolution track for the entire Sheltowee and a waypoint file for views and scenic features in the Red. All for FREE and only a few people have downloaded it. We ditched the 1"=2 miles scale pub, since it was pretty weak. We're now doing a 1"=1 mile scale map book. It will be 2-color but it will rock.

We're mapping every week, so if folks want to join on a trip...this weekend Cumberland Falls...then let me know.
