Updated Overview Map

Post by tomdarch »

Hey! I've finally gotten around to updating my overview map:

http://www.redpointdesign.com/rrg/rrg_map_041019a.pdf

Major Updates:

-The town to the north of the gorge is no longer a musical instrument.
-Lots of clickable links to the guidebook! (In Acrobat reader or your browser, click on a crag name and it should open up the guidebook entry!)
-Several Crags Added, (closed crags removed: e.g. The Arena  )

Pre-emptive note: I'm intending this is a "Major Crags" map, so, no - Toe Jelly Wall and Butt-Scratcher Rock aren't on there.

Any suggestions, misspellings, etc.?

(Also, Ray - please update the link on the front page. Thanks!)

That is too cool. Thanks for your efforts.

Cool! Thanks!

Adding the clickable links took all of 20-30 minutes in Acrobat Pro. Alt-Tab to the guide, copy url, alt-tab to Acrobat, draw box, paste link, repeat! I sort of dreaded doing it, but it was super easy.

(I should preface this by admitting that this is partially motivated by ego) Has anyone seen the overview map printed out and in people's hands at Miguel's or the crags? I'm wondering if it's really useful to people, particularly to people who are new to the gorge? That's what I'm really targeting with this map.

Are there any major improvements I can make to this map, or should I move on to some individual crag overviews?

Excellent job tomdarch! I have to say that this map is a wonderful overview map of the major crags. (Though I never thought of Pistol as a major crag till a few weeks ago when I say about a dozen cars parked at the 9a/b split.)

Now onto what I always thought would be cool. Taking two of those KY atlases, putting them up on a wall and placing pins at each crag location and indexing them to a big list of directions and route names/grades/f.a. etc.
Screw you guys. I'm going bowling.
