2 Newbs looking for someone to show us the ropes

Post by ioechsle »

Hey guys!

My name is Ian and my wife and I have been indoor climbing for about 5 months now. I recently graduated college and am finally getting into climbing but my gym in Indy does not train in lead climbing. We are planning a trip down to the Gorge this weekend (9/23-9/24) to camp/hike/climb and are looking for someone to take us under their wing and teach us literally anything about the routes and about lead. Although we don't have a ton, we can offer you conversation, friendship, and Miguel's :) .

Peace,
Ian

Glad to hear you're interested in outdoor climbing. This question gets asked a lot. There are three pro guide services in RRG. They all have great people working there. I recommend hiring one to show you the ropes.

Thanks, what would be the best one you would recommend given price, expertise, etc.?

I'm guessing price-wise they're all fairly close, but I'm not sure. Any AMGA certified guide can teach you how to lead belay, climb and clean. Some might already be booked for your weekend. Shoot and email or give them a call. In no particular order, the three with offices in RRG are:

1. Torrent Falls Climbing
2. KRAG
3. Red River Outdoors.
