bouldering/buildering around lexington and ky

Post by nickelis »

I've been climbing for awhile, but have hit a barrier this winter and have found, being some what of a loner, that the gym isn't my preferable place to develop new and more skill. It also, is nothing like grabbing rock, which im quite fond of. I have heard of areas in Mt. Sterling and Morehead that have potential bouldering, anyone know where exactly? any other areas around i could shake off this slump and get outside and climb this winter would be great. Thanks

Nothing near Mt Sterling. Between Jeffersonville and Frenchburg is a cool lonely area. And Morehead has some semi-secret bouldering and climbing

The boulders on my farm got 3.5 inches of snow last night, but we can still get RAD on a good traverse right down the street under an overhung

Clack Mountain @ Morehead really isn't that secret, some of the other areas are a little harder to find, but clack probably has the most bang for the buck.

looks like i'm not the only educated poster who knows about cut and paste. it's exciting stuff, but we should really consider mobilizing this think tank towards a bigger project: healthcare? obesity epidemic? war on drugs?

i'm open for suggestions.
