I think walking the trail is actually quicker than driving the road... or maybe 30 seconds longer.

I drove down it 4 weeks ago in a Mazda 3. Not a big deal if you take it easy. Your wallet is probably safer at the sore heal parking lot.

I made it to sore heel last week in a Honda accord with no problems. Just drive really slow.
Re: Road Condition to get to the southern region
I have seen at least 4 people towed out of there in the past few weeks due to not having 4 wheel drive. I suggest you do not attempt to go down without the 4 wheel drive this weekend. It will be a busy weekend for the tower and he may not be able to get to you for hours.

Ah ha, steep4me is obviously the thief. Trying to increase the potential for cars full of booty at the motherload parking lot by discouraging people from driving any farther. Crafty.

So has there been any break ins at Sore Heal parking lot. Seems as though you could hear a window break from the climbing areas. I parked there all day Sunday, left the doors unlocked and the glove box open. Car was empty, I just did not want anyone breaking my window.

Actually, I was hoping to deter all people from going to the southern region at all, so I could climb without all of the crowds!
