Pull the rope?
By definition, a child is a bastard if it is born "out of wedlock". Now, why don't you examine the ORIGINS of said requirment? Marraige is a concept developed by the church and accepted as "how one in supposed to conduct one's self". Explain to me what is so righteous about marraige? Explain to me how one can "contract" love? Explain to me how a child born into a loving family-where the parents simply chose to stay together without needing the church or law to REMIND them they've commited to each other-is any worse off than, oh, say a child of a married couple who fight incessantly, but remain together because of they're legal and religious obligations?
People's preconceptions about marraige and society and "how life is supposed to go" are typically founded from tradition. Tradition is not a valid reason to do ANYTHING, much like "just because" isn't.

Hoss: I don't care whether you think I'm a bastard. Really, it doesn't bother me. Also, you're right. My grasp on the English language is poor. I'm just a mechanic working at Lowell's. I do know "righty tighty, lefty loosey"...does that count. Someday I aspire to be as prolific as you. Dang...will you teach me...please oh wise one?

I didn't mean to jump down your throat, Hoss, I just got a rant. Though, as far as TR'ing being a bastardized form of climbing, I don't believe that's a valid argument. When climbing a multipitch route one person must lead the route, then belay his/her partner (gasp ) on TR from the anchors. So, are you saying that anyone who follows on a multipitch climb is only performing a cheap imitation? I'm sure the guy who climbed the record setting routes/pace with Dean Potter would disagree. It's fine to prefer one position to the other, so long as you remember you can't HAVE one, without the other.

I was only referring to single pitch sport routes which people TR instead of leading. My only argument is that while on TR you don't have to follow the route, you can take paths that would be impossible on lead such as climbing far away from the bolts, that's why I believe that it is an illegitimate (*note illegitimate is a synonym for bastard) form of climbing. TRing can be great if you want to get in way over your head and hopp on some 12's and 13's, it's good practice but not legit.
