There are patents for free-or I guess technically there is some amount of input required- energy generating technology dating back to the late thirties when Nikola Tesla was working with a bunch of dudes on some stuff that would make you really think I'm crazy if I talked about it. Unfortunately, due to the fact that the use of the energy generated couldn't be metered and people couldn't be charged for it, the Rockefeller banking family bought up the patents and to this day they have not been released for public use. And I can't remember who it is, but I believe it's JP Morgan that owns several patents as well. Look the shit up, it's more in the open than you think.
And I don't think socialism is the right word. I don't believe in one person or group of people having the ability to decide what is 'right' or 'enough' for the masses. And I never said that I did. Plus, like I said, this world is a hell of a long way off considering for it to work requires everyone being in a loving, selfless state of mind, instead of a bunch of defensive, stingy, selfish egos walking around turning their noses up to each other.

dustball, why should food, healthcare, shelter, respect, and a community not be things that we all have in life??
why should those things be some of the hardest things to attain when most everyone agrees they are necessary? why is living in a world this fucked termed "nprmal" and anyone who believes that everyone should at least have the basics is labeled "crazy" or a socialist?? what makes them less ahuman and the greedys more human?

Like me on facebook but hate me in real life
I don't know auntie, you're jumping to some wild conclusions there. I'm just saying none of these things come for free and without backbreaking work and centuries of technological innovation and financial investment. Yes, they should be basic human rights but the reality of providing them to everyone is pretty daunting. dhuff seems to think they all grow on trees and should be there for the pickin' if people would just be "nicer"... unfortunately, it ain't so. People need incentive to bust ass and work and provide these goods and services. I actually think socialism could and does work in many countries around the world. What dhuff is describing, on the other hand, is completely untenable and has nothing to do with any functioning form of government.
I'm not just talking about people being 'nicer' as you put it. I'm talking about people taking responsibility for the well being of the fellow humans around them, recognizing that we are all completely equal in our essence and doing work purely for the sake of doing work to help each other. I think you're underestimating the power of the collective will of humanity. And fuck government. We don't need a governing body to decide how we'll be taken care of. We need to recognize the fact that we are destroying ourselves, each other, and everything else good on this planet by continuing to let the bastards pulling the strings of the government leaders keep controlling every facet of modern living. The only incentive I need to bust ass is to know that there will be a positive effect from it. Apparently what's required for you to bust ass is knowing you'll get something in return for it. It also seems like you assume that everyone else is in the same state of mind you are, and that this will never change. That is the attitude keeping us from realizing our true human potential and from living in complete freedom.
This "attitude" you're referring to is reality, unfortunately. And no, I don't assume anything, including the idea that "everyone" is in the same state of mind or however you put it. But the reality is that people willing to work for free to build power plants, roads, plumbing, lay power line, phone, grow food, purify water, create shelter and clothing and all the other supplies we need to live as human beings, and take care of the sick and dying are in the minority. And when people do work for free, there will always be freeloaders who don't and smart but selfish and evil people around to take advantage of all the naivete and good intentions in such a "free system" (in fact, I would argue that this is one of the major contributors that got us to where we are today. But we are fortunate here in the U.S. where there is a large middle class that lives extremely well and has a good percentage of human rights intact relative to many other countries.) One ruthless power-hungry dictator type is all it takes to destroy your fragile utopia, especially if you say "fuck government," which leaves no military and no police to prevent this from happening--look at Sudan or Kyrgyzstan if you want to see the grim realities of anarchy.
BTW you don't really know anything about me, so lay off the personal comments. As a medical student I volunteer twice a week at a free clinic here in Lexington, do cancer research, and work on healthcare delivery in developing countries like Indonesia and impoverished counties in eastern Kentucky. What do you do exactly besides drop acid, smoke bowls, and bitch about society on the internet?

The reality is that many people have that attitude..how's that? So let's make the minority into the majority, or the total. What's to stop us from doing that? It seems ridiculous and impossible, I know. But that's only because you don't believe there's anything going on outside of our realm of perception. So that's the limiting factor in your ability to see the vision of the future that I do. From what I've seen, there are unseen conscious forces which are aiding us in this battle to the free humanity from the shackles of three dimensional perception and time. To you, that is absolutely ludicrous. To me, that makes my vision of the future completely possible. That rift can't be fixed via internet chat. That's it, there's no further debating it. And it's not worth trying, because neither one of us is going to convince the other of our belief. I'm alright with that.
And you can't get mad about 'personal comments' and then try attack me based on my lack of tangible contribution to the material world. But it's cool.
Anyway, it's not even really worth answering that question. Because through your eyes, which I guess means in material terms, I am contributing absolutely nothing to anyone except a few dollars here and there or some food to a homeless person around where I live. That and working at a climbing gym, which is pretty much useless labor. What I would say I'm doing is spreading an attitude of love, and also spreading sacred knowledge to anyone who is receptive to it. But as soon as I get this shoulder injury taken care of, I am taking off to drive around in a bus spreading this ancient sacred knowledge everywhere I go..which to you means absolutely nothing. See? Not worth it.

lastly, what makes you think the ancient knowledge you now possess is superioir to the 10,000 years of wisdom that preceded your journey to earth?
btw, nice use of the terms" sacred" and "ancient knowledge"....I used to hear that it church all the time to make me think I was missing something.
