Re: for the bangers
This is a great question Pigsteak. It was similar to the question your parents asked you when you bought a hat and bent the shit out of it. Is this clear enough? How about this. If you thought it was "cool" it wouldn't be.pigsteak wrote:when I was in college (way back when), we wore our hats either straight up or straight back. the important thing was to keep the bill with a nice fat curve in it. today, everyone wants the bill flat. and I see some sort of sticker on the bill. and they rotate them 10,20,30 degrees to one side.
just curious if there is reason for all this madness. like is a left lean west side? does any of this mean something that I need to be aware of?
Are you aware that you aren't young?
its not about making momma proud, its just that after 30 when the cool kids see you do it, they no longer want any part of it.pigsteak wrote:but I see "old" guys doing this....that guy from the MTV show (I think his name is Rob) has to be old like me..and he still kicks it..
so JR, what is the cut off between old and just looking ridiculous? at 30 do we have to fly straight and make mama proud?
How you compare may not be as important as to whom you are compared

I put on one of my son's hats on in banger style when I want to piss him off.

You aren't on MTV.pigsteak wrote:but I see "old" guys doing this....that guy from the MTV show (I think his name is Rob) has to be old like me..and he still kicks it..

The cut off is not the same for everyone. Look at Tony Hawk or Kelly Slater they might go to the grave with style. There are a lot of factors. Many of which I don't entirely understand. I am a dork. And to be clear, I don't really think there is a cut off per se. "It" sort of fades away but the realization that you can't get the flat billed hat or the teen aged girl can be quite sudden and disturbing.
Now granted I have never met you. I only know your snappy online persona. And to tell the truth, I thought you were much younger. You have a pretty hip and youthful way of saying things. On the other hand, I remember seeing a picture of you pinching your wiener in front of Lynn Hill. And that picture was sort of telling....You might be to old to rock the flat billed hat. It would be awesome if you got one of these hats and let Redriverclimbing.com decide if it is doable for you.
