Does 75 per acre sound more believable? That's what we got from a speaker at the Koomers Ridge campground years ago. Wait a second, that was Poisonous s.p.a. Some biology class staked off several parcels and did an actual count to come up with that number. "If you go lookin' for trouble..." ! It's not hard to run across a coppperhead , watched a baby woofing down a salamander at the base of Environmental Impact a few weekends ago,but I've yet to run up on a rattlesnake in the gorge. If i've nearly stepped on one , I'd just as soon not know it.
Are the lizards the staple of the snakes in the Red?I know there are snakes below the Turret,When I was belaying from the top of it I saw 3 different skinks and lizards.

That's just it, Dingo....you can't always see them. Jesse and I were about two feet from a copperhead before Jesse noticed it. Not sure if the snake ever noticed us, but he surely blended!
What I love about running is you can meditate while running. It's a peaceful place.

I was just curious where the stat came from. I didn't know if it was a word of mouth thing (7 snakes becomes 17 and then 70 and then 700) or a real stat. THnaks.
