..right.. just like dan osman was about the rope, dean potter was about his solo adventures on tape, and bachar was about his insurance.

and reardon did fall at least twice, once on tape. he was alright and walked away only slightly hobbled.

he will be missed. talk about some intense, good energy. and i never even met the guy. hopefully his family will come away from this ok..
and great loves will one day have to part -smashing pumpkins

Yeah, that's my point. "Famous Soloists" get themselves killed in a variety of ways.

So? Obscure sport climbers get themselves killed in a variety of ways as well.

I still don't get your point...

A link to his website

http://www.freesoloist.com/

The list of things he did is mind numbing. Under ascents it shows he soloed 280+ routes in a 24 hours period, with a third ranging from 5.9 - 5.13a. I've had a good day if we do 12 pitches.

Damn strong climber (stronger than I'll ever be!) and at least he went out climbing, which is about as good as it gets!

Plus, he didn't die soloing in a US National Park, which helps keep the "all climbers are crazy and have a death wish" attitude down among land managers.
